Ilmenau is a town with approximately 30 000 inhabitants, situated at the northern egde of the Thuringian forest at a height of 472 metres. The town and ist beautiful environment offer a variety of hiking opportunities around the mountains of the forest. Famous German writer J.W. Goethe visited the area 31 times and celebrated his last birthday in town. You will be living in the historical 'Bäder-Viertel' between the town centre and the (high rising) Thronging Forest with it is so called 'Kickelhahn' mountain, that has a height of 861 m.

 

You get everything packet together in one place: closeness to the town centre, promenades and hiking trails through the forest and in beautiful parks. Other interesting towns and sights can be easily accessed via the A71 motorway, such as Arnstadt (connected to composer J.S.Bach, Eisenach (Wartburg castle, Bach), Gotha (Friedenstein palace), Erfurt (main capital of Thuringia, cathedral, historic town centre), Weimar (connected to famous writer J.W.Goethe), Jena (connected to famous writer F.Schiller) or beyond the 'Rennsteig' mountains Meiningen (connected to famous composer Brahms), Oberhof (a nice mountain health resort, Rennsteig thermae).

The 'Höhenwanderweg Rennsteig' (hiking trail) is only 10 km away. Attention! Our holiday home #1 will not be available for a longer period of time. A staircase leads from the living-and bedroom up under the piched roof, where bed three and four (80 x 1.90m) are situated.

 

Holiday home #1 also contains a little garden. Holiday Home #2 is situated in the roof area of the main house (owner's house). It is designed for two people and has a separated living- and bedroom. Further Information: Because these are self-catering homes it is interesting to know, that a supermarket is only 200 m and a little cafe at the 'Lessingpark' 100 m away. Bringing along a pet is only possible if you rent holiday home #1. All the flats have phone and an internet connection is available upon request! The main station is 1,5 km away, the next bus stop only 300 m. Right next to our homes you can also find the 'Ilmtal' cycle track. You can rent bicycles from us or bring your own bicycles along. To get to holiday home #2 it is necessary to climb up 41 stairs.

To get to the shower and bathrooms you have to take a short walk throught the stair case (2 m). Please feel free to have a look around the webside, in order to see some pictures and sind out about prices and availability!

 

Please check the calendar to find out, if places are available. The day is not available if two letters from a guests name are found in the culumn and the colour is yellow. Quotation marks indicate the day of departure. The home will be available from this day at 6 p.m. or on the following day from 2 p.m..
